The
Communications Workers of America (CWA) is the largest
telecommunications Union in North America, it represents 700,000
workers in public and private employment, including 500,000 workers
building the Information Highway. More than 1,200 chartered CWA
local Unions are affiliated. Members work and live in some 10,000
communities in the U.S. and Canada. CWA members are employed in
telecommunications, printing and media, public service, health care,
cable television, general manufacturing, electronics, gas and
electric utilities, and other fields. CWA holds over 1,000
collective bargaining agreements spelling out wages, benefits, and
working conditions for its members. Among major employers of CWA
members are Verizon, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, AT&T Mobility, the
Regional Bell telephone companies (RBOC's), NBC, and ABC television
networks, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the state of New
Jersey, and leading newspapers. |
